I was all alone and lonely,

no one to tell my troubles to.

Watching sunsets by myself,

long before I met you.



All my life I'd dreamed of love,

to meet someone and lose my heart.

but then nothing ever happened,

I just couldn't get a start!



I prayed God would send someone,

with whom I could share my life.

Then I'd never be alone,

I could be someone's wife.



Then one day, I met you.

We hit it off, right from the start.

It wasn't long before I knew.

Here's the one who holds my heart!



You were loving, kind and gentle.

Just the way I knew you'd be.

I was really happy, too,

when you said that you loved me!



I am your's and you are mine.

We belong together now.

I couldn't make it without you,

I just really don't know how!



Our love still is very strong.

Though we met many years ago.

You're still the one who holds my heart!

and I'll always love you so!



I know now, Lord, why you waited,

so very long for us to meet.

Those many years in waiting,

makes our love seem twice as sweet!
