How special is a dad who takes you for his own

Treats you like you’re a special daughter or a son

Who loves you regardless if you are smart or dumb

Step–dad is what they call him, but to you he’s #1.



He is there when’ere you need him, to help you problem solve,

To shoot a goal, adopt a pet, or with a project get involved.

The two of you go shopping, to ballgames or buy clothes,

and when you ask a question he always surely knows.



He has been there for you, whatever has come along

His ways are always gentle, his voice reflects a song

You never ever doubt his love, he’s always made sure you know

That he is "Dad" and will be where ever you may go.



You are thankful for Father’s Day when you especially say

"Thank you, Dad, for all you’ve done, you’re in my life to stay;

I love you as if you were my own life giving dad

If you weren’t in my life it would be so very sad."
